This impressive watercolor "Red Ship" (1980) from the series "Worlds of Work" shows a large ship in a shipyard. The red ship dominates the scene and stands on a dry dock. Two workers are seen at the bottom left of the picture. The artists Jury and Irina Gretsky, who painted this picture together, capture the essence of industrial work life and use strong colors to highlight the central object, the ship. The style of the painting is impressionistic.

Jury and Irina use a combination of strong brushstrokes and soft transitions to show the structure and dimension of the ship in its surroundings. The dominant red tones of the ship contrast with the cooler tones of the sky and sea, giving the picture dynamic tension.

The picture conveys a strong message about the importance of human work in industry. It shows the symbiosis between people and work and emphasizes the size and influence of the maritime industry on our daily lives. This work fits well into the "Worlds of Work" series because it shows an important aspect of the working world: the maritime industry.
